The Japanese term manebi comprises meanings of two words: manabi (learning) and mane (imitation). However, learning is in certain measure, imitation but also, limitation.
But we do not notice this many times. Through the process of imitation,
many innovative aspects arise from which I gain. Thus I strive to imitate and to learn from the movements of nature. In this work, nature created the first pattern.
An impact has left it’s intricated, sophisticated mark on a folio tempered glass. The result is totally hazardous and physical.
The second glass board works as an imitation product of the first panel: every line of the natural impact
has been recorded on a support. Than on a panel of simple clear glass, the graphic has been transferred again, by hand and line by line, one at a time. The process is not the impact anymore, it’s an artificial rendering: the cuts effect in glass is obtained by acid etching, using plastic sealing to isolate the glass.
